2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 Review

BMW ActiveHybrid 5 has unveiled. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is a hybrid version for BMW 5 Series. As hybrid version, BMW ActiveHybrid 5 will powered by couples 3.0L twin-turbo engine which generate 302 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque with electric motor that delivers 55 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque. Both of them paired to eight-speed automatic transmission. The combination of 3.0L engine and electric motor make BMW ActiveHybrid 5 generate maximum output of 335 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.


As Hybrid car, BMW ActiveHybrid 5 allow the driver to drive in electric mode with range up to 2.5 miles (four kilometer) at average speed of 35 km/h. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 fuel economy is around 6.4L/100km (44 mpg) with 149g/km of CO2 emission production.


The chassis specifications of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 include a double-wishbone front axle and integral rear axle, electromechanical power steering including the Servotronic speed-sensitive power assist function, a high-performance brake system and 17-inch alloy wheels. Dynamic Damper Control, featuring electronically controlled damping, is optionally available.

The standard safety feature on BMW ActiveHybrid 5 includes Dynamic Stability Control system, which stabilises the vehicle by applying braking pressure and reducing engine power, also incorporates functions such as Dynamic Traction Control, the Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Control, Brake Assist, Fading Compensation, a Dry Braking function and Start-Off Assistant.
